ByteDance prefers TikTok shutdown in US if legal options fail

ByteDance, the company behind TikTok, is prepared to shut down the app in the U.S. rather than selling it if legal avenues fail. This decision is due to the significance of TikTok's algorithms to ByteDance's overall operations. Selling the app without its core algorithms is highly unlikely, and ByteDance is reluctant to give up its valuable assets, including its algorithm, to potential American buyers.

Honestly, it would be super weird to sell off tiktok to an American group. The company already operates successfully in China and across the world, just because the USA bans it, while a large market, doesn’t mean it’s best for them to sell.

I imagine it would be hard to sell off only part of their business and continue to make updates and innovate quickly.

It would probably devolve quickly and make the 350 million American population not worthy of the overhead it takes to run another business side by side

Wow, didn't expect this, but actually makes sense, especially coming from the CEO, who would likely get removed/replaced/less powerful in the event of a sale.
