A DASH OF SUGAR 🍬

  • Got an app or service in the works, but still deciding where to host it? Coolify is an open-source alternative to bigger hosting platforms. Whether you need to deploy a React app, or you want to deploy a self hosted instance of WordPress, you can set them up in Coolify. It also integrates directly with Github, which is awesome! Oh – did I mention free SSL certificates? Check it out.
  • Collaborate directly with other artists in your browser with Magma Studio. This feature rich drawing app will enable you and your friends to brainstorm and collaborate in live time. Make it a art party, and invite up to 30 people! What sort of masterpieces will you create? Check it out.
  • If you plan on launching a product or opening commissions soon, how do you plan to bring cold traffic to your site? Launch List is a pre-launch waitlist tool that you can use to capture emails from potential clients/users, and get them to refer others too! It’s a simple copy/paste embed – so you don’t have to worry about complicated setup. Check it out.
  • Editr is a minimalist text editor without any distractions. It will show word count, character count – and that’s about it. Don’t worry about formatting, fonts, and headers – just type away. One word of warning – there is no save or download function, so you’ll need to copy and paste your text to somewhere else. Editr also has a github, so you could easily create your own version with a download function if you’d like. Check it out.
  • Want to create some awesome music visualizations for your next track or live set? Stereo Drift is a fun little tool with a variety of fun visualizers and colors. My personal favorite is the one labeled Bubble Bath with the Vapor color scheme. You can upload mp3’s from your computer to listen to, or enjoy the demo tracks. Check it out.

CLASSIFIEDS* 📰

A BIT OF CREAM 🥛

There’s something so simple and beautiful about little icons, wouldn’t you agree? The branding for Southern Swells has such a fun nautical flavor. While we’re on the subject of brews, this nifty API Brew app will let you build customized feeds so you can always be up to date on your favorite content. Do you like technicolor photographs? This beautiful collection of photos taken in Tokyo by Liam Wong will blow you away. There’s such a marvelous amount of color and rain soaked aesthetic. Photography is about to get pretty wild, because NVIDIA has created a neural rendering model that can turn a 2D photo into a 3D scene. It’ll be pretty epic when they release a consumer facing version! Now that your mind is spinning with the possibilities of 3D photos, relax, listen to some Pokemon Vaporwave/lofi, and play some minigolf.

INSPIRATION 💡

What inspires you to create? Is it a particular mood, setting, beverage? Stephen King once said “The muses are ghosts, and sometimes they come uninvited.” Inspiration can visit us at the least unexpected times, it can visit us too much, or not enough. Our bodies respond to routines and habits – how can we make creativity a habit? Yeah – that sounds strange, doesn’t it. Taking the time to practice being creative each day can be a real challenge – but it’s necessary to honing our crafts. Why not create a mood board with kinopio.club, or generate a daily writing prompt each day? Whatever your creative discipline – there’s some way to engage or practice in it each day – even if it’s as simple as curating a Pinterest board related to your creative passion. Returning to King, he once said “Read and write four to six hours a day. If you cannot find the time for that, you can’t expect to become a good writer.” Most of us may not have four to six hours, but we can definitely carve out at least fifteen minutes to an hour each day. How will you practice your creativity?

That’s all for this week!
